A friend kindly donated a 32-by-12 LED-matrix. It then became my mission to build a controller to be able to convey simple messages. Much like LED Matrix but scaled up a bit.
The design is based around an ATmega8 and two TLC5940s that drive the 32 columns while the 12 rows are scanned. The TLC5940 provide 12-bits of intensity per LED. During each line all 384 bits are shifted out providing a full update per scan. The frame rate is 162 Hz.
